TCU Sweeps Colorado Mesa, 5-0

FORT WORTH, Texas – History was made on Thursday night as the TCU beach volleyball team snagged its first win in program history with a 5-0 victory over Colorado Mesa on the beach volleyball courts at Jimenez Field in Tucson, Ariz.

The Horned Frogs (1-0) were able to grab straight set victories on four of the five courts and the exhibition court to pick up the victory over the Mavericks (2-0).

In the opening round of matches, the four, five and six pairs all swept their matches in straight sets. At the No. 4 position, freshmenMolly Scheel and Ariah Palter picked up a 21-16, 21-12 win, while freshman Clare Ford teamed with senior Blaire Pickens on court five to win 21-18, 21-14. In the exhibition match, Ashley Quintilone and Bridget Odmark were able to win their first match of the season, 21-9, 21-15.

In the second round of matches, the top pair of Michelle McNamee and Sarita Mikals were able to down Taylor Woods and Erin Perez, 21-15, 21-9. Freshman Jaelyn Greene and junior Jillian Bergeson paired up on court three to complete the final sweep with a 21-10, 21-13 victory. The pairing of Shane Peters and Olivia Canales needed three sets to pull off their win as they defeated Hana Peterman and Naomi Pinnecuse, 21-15, 18-21, 15-9.
