ESPN: Five years later: Revisiting Andy Dalton’s draft selection with Jay Gruden

INDIANAPOLIS — Now that we’re fully into the NFL draft season, here’s a good moment to revisit the Cincinnati Bengals‘ second-round selection of quarterback Andy Dalton with his old offensive coordinator, current Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden.
Gruden helped select Dalton, and from 2011-13, he coached him along with then-quarterbacks coach and now current Bengals offensive coordinator Ken Zampese. With veteran Carson Palmer on his way out, the Bengals were forced into starting Dalton right away. He’s occupied that role ever since. In each of his five seasons, the Bengals have made it to the playoffs, although he didn’t play in January’s wild-card round loss to the Steelers after he broke his right thumb against them in a game the month before. …
