Dayton Daily News: Bengals’ Dawson back in the fold — for now

CINCINNATI — Linebacker P.J. Dawson was back on the field as part of the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad Wednesday, following a rollercoaster of a long weekend.
Dawson, last year’s third-round draft pick, initially made the 53-man roster when the final cuts were announced Saturday, but when the Bengals claimed quarterback Jeff Driskel off waivers Sunday, they released Dawson as the corresponding move.
He cleared waivers Monday and the Bengals signed him to the practice squad Wednesday, despite reports Dawson had a tryout with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Dawson has been known to be late for meetings and inconsistent in his work rate.
