Arkansas Democrat-Gazette: State of the Hogs: TCU will test Arkansas vertically

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas secondary coach Paul Rhoads knows what to expect from TCU. That goes from the up-tempo offense to the high press box in Amon Carter Stadium.
Rhoads was privy to the thoughts of TCU coach Gary Patterson well before he changed to that style of offense. Actually, it was a full year in advance. Patterson told Rhoads during a pregame visit at midfield as two head coaches shook hands.
It was during the seven-year term for Rhoads as head coach at Iowa State. He came to love the candid talks with Patterson at Big 12 meetings or clinics.
“He told me in pregame that he was done with the offense he was running and was going to sling it all over the yard the next year,†Rhoads said. “He wasn’t lying. There was no question that he was doing it either with the way he emphasized what he told me.â€
