After battling through qualifying, Norrie came up short, losing to top seed Daniel Evans in the all-British final, 6-3, 6-4.
Evans, the second-highest-ranked British player behind world No. 2 Andy Murray, overcame two service breaks in the second set to beat Norrie, who had never reached the quarterfinals of a Challenger event before this week and whose ATP ranking will climb from No. 636 to begin the year to about No. 305 when the official rankings are released.
“I’ve always known that I can compete with these guys, and it’s nice to have a result that proves that,†Norrie told the ATP website before the final.
