FWST: Hall of Fame vote not on LaDainian Tomlinson’s mind … yet

Even as LaDainian Tomlinson sliced through NFL defenses on his way to two rushing titles, five Pro Bowls and 145 rushing touchdowns during his 11-year career, his eventual induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, never crossed his mind.
In less than eight months Tomlinson will go on the Hall of Fame ballot for the first time. Tomlinson retired after the 2012 season, playing his last two seasons with the New York Jets after a long career with the San Diego Chargers. Retired players become eligible for Hall of Fame consideration after being out of the game for five years.

“No one wakes up in the morning, even as a kid, and dreams of going to the Hall of Fame,” Tomlinson said during Friday’s LaDainian Tomlinson Youth Football Camp at TCU. “I wouldn’t say it’s impossible, but it’s such a hard feat to attain, it’s so rare, that it’s really hard to imagine going to a Hall of Fame and being remembered forever.”
