GoFrogs: TCU Picked To Repeat As Big 12 Champs

FORT WORTH – In the tightest vote since 2011, the TCU baseball team edge out Oklahoma State by two points to be the favorite to win the 2016 regular season title in a poll of Big 12 head coaches.

In all, just four votes separated the top three spots in the league. TCU, Oklahoma State and Texas all received three first place votes. The Horned Frogs finished voting with 57 points, followed by Oklahoma State with 55 and Texas with 53.

It’s the second straight season the Horned Frogs have been picked to win the league. Since joining the Big 12, the Frogs have never been picked to finish lower than second. It marks the ninth time under the guidance of head coach Jim Schlossnagle that the Horned Frogs have been the preseason favorite to win a league title.

Oklahoma checked in at No. 4 in the poll followed by Texas Tech in fifth and West Virginia in sixth. Kansas and Kansas State each received 18 points to tie for a projected seventh-place finish. Baylor rounded out the poll in ninth.

The 2016 officially gets underway on Feb. 19 when the Horned Frogs host Loyola Marymount for a three game series. The unofficial start to the campaign comes on Feb. 13 when the team takes on the Alumni squad. Game time for that contest is set for 1 p.m. at Lupton Stadium.
