Page 1 of 2FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 The 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup is all set to make its mark later this year between 31 st August and 15 th September with 32 teams playing to win the title. It is the 18th tournament of its kind for men's national basketball teams and will be hosted in China. And with the best sports Betting apps , you can bet on all the matches! Since this edition was rescheduled from 2018 to 2019, it will be the first FIBA World Cup since 1967 that will not take place in the same year as the FIFA World Cup. The FIBA World Cup 2019 is the gateway to the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, and teams will be eager to display their potential on this global platform. The Czech Republic and Montenegro will be making their debut in the FIBA World Cup this year. We shall also see Poland returning to the court for the first time since 1967. Host and venue selection: The host selection was done through a bidding process which began way back in April 2014. A large number of nations submitted their bids. On 7th August 2015, China won the final bid against the Philippines and cemented its position as the host. The matches will be held at the following venues: ● Wukesong Sport Center, Beijing ● Shanghai Oriental Sports Center, Shanghai ● Gymnasium of Youth Olympic Games Sport Park, Nanjing ● Wuhan Sports Center, Wuhan ● Dongguan Basketball Center, Dongguan ● Foshan International Sports & Cultural Arena, Foshan ● Guangzhou Gymnasium, Guangzhou ● Shenzhen Bay Sports Centre, Shenzhen Format: The FIBA Basketball World Cup will be played in three different stages. The first stage will see the 32 qualified teams be divided into eight groups of four. In each group, a team will play the other three teams once. Once the round is complete, the top two teams in each group will move on to the second group stage where they will be sorted into four groups. Each group will consist of four teams, and they will play each other once. The top two teams in each group will then qualify for the ultimate knockout stage. 92 games will be played across 16 days. China qualified for the tournament automatically since they are the hosts. After two rounds of continental qualifying tournaments, organized over a period of two years, the teams were finalized for the World Cup. Starting from 2019, the Olympic champions will not be guaranteed a spot in the FIBA World Cup tournament from now on. The qualifier draw was held in Guangzhou in May 2017. Logo and mascot: The 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup unveiled its official logo on 21 March 2017 in Shanghai. The design of the logo was inspired by the Beijing Opera and the Chinese Dragon Dance. The mascot for the FIBA Basketball World Cup was chosen by the fans. Yan Xu's creation, the Son of Dreams, was announced as the winning mascot in April 2018. 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup is all set for an excellent season.
