DMN: TCU’s Aaron Curry, Josh Carraway combine to make a two-headed pass-rushing monster

We’ve gone through the offense, now it is time to look at the other side of the ball as we continue previewing TCU’s position groups for the 2016 season. We’ll start the defensive previews with the defensive line.

Position: Defensive line

Key returnees: Josh Carraway (senior), Aaron Curry (senior), Chris Bradley (junior), Bryson Henderson (junior)

Key additions: Ross Blacklock (freshman), Gary Overshown (freshman), Isaiah Chambers (freshman)

Key losses: Davion Pierson (graduation), Terrell Lathan (graduation), Mike Tuaua (graduation), Tevin Lawson (transfer)

2015 recap: The defensive line did not have the flashiest numbers among the defensive position groups at TCU last year but that’s alright — as a defensive lineman you’re doing your job when you occupy blockers to free up linebackers to make tackles. The Frogs had a solid group who knew their roles and played them well. Davion Pierson and Mike Tuaua provided a lot of senior leadership in the position group and set a good example by keeping their heads down and grinding play after play. Those two were somewhat overshadowed by the pass rushing trio of Josh Carraway, Terrell Lathan and Aaron Curry, which combined for 16 sacks and 22 tackles for loss in 2015. Carraway in particular flashed his superstar potential. He forced one fumble and recovered two more, returning one for a touchdown. …
