A Night Game in The Carter

KillerFrogs Scattershooting with Hunter Nix

Recruiting:

Jordan Allen – Weakside D-End, 6-5 230lbs

TCU picked up a huge recruiting win as Jordan Allen has decided to become a Frog, and it has only gotten better since his commitment. Jordan was unranked when he committed and is now a 4 star recruit. In addition he is ranked #1 WDE, #2 player in California and #11 player in the nation in the JUCO ranks. His speed (4.52 40 time) and pass rushing ability at the defensive end position are what make him a big time prospect. Watch his film below!

Stats to know:

Through 6 weeks we have seen a lot of good defense from the Horned Frogs. A huge proponent of that success has been Ben Banogu. Ben is currently leading the Big 12 with 22 total pressures (5 sacks, 7 hits, and 10 hurries). Mat Boesen is in 4TH in the Big 12 with 13 pressures (1 sack, 3 hits, and 9 hurries). Look for these two ends to have continued success against a Kansas team that has had a lot of trouble on offense this season. Joseph Noteboom has been solid for the Frogs this year and is one of the best in the Big 12 in Pass Blocking Efficiency. On his 207 pass block snaps, he has allowed only 5 pressures all season. That’s good for a 98.1% Pass Block Efficiency grade this season, which is 5th among tackles in the conference.

Game Prediction:

This is a nationally televised game where the Frogs are heavily favored and finally getting some of the attention they deserve. That’s why I think not only we win this game, but we do it BIG! The Frogs have a resume to pad and Kansas just happens to be the whipping boy of the week. TCU should score early and often and when it gets ugly they will score some more. Look to see some youngsters (namely Shawn Robinson) get some significant playing time. I’m taking the Horned Frogs 55-0.

Vote the Frogs for Under Armour All-American Game:

Ben Wilson and Tevailance Hunt are both in the running for a coveted spot in the Under Armour All-American game. Both players made it through the first round of voting but need your help! So everybody vote early and often so we can get a couple of future Frogs in the game!

Players of the week:

Kenny Hill and Niko Small both made the Pro Football Focus Big 12 team of the week. Hill led all offensive players with a game grade of 89.9. He threw for 297 yards on 27/37 passing and also added a rushing touchdown.Niko Small had a very impressive grade of 88.7 while leading the TCU defense against Kansas State. He had 3 tackles in the game to go along with 2 passes defended. Congrats to both of these young men!
