Rams looking like early season favorites for Super Bowl LIII

The NFL season is still relatively young, but the Los Angeles Rams are looking practically unbeatable early on as they have passed early tests.
The Rams made many notable changes over the offseason, adding several key pieces to the roster like Brandin Cooks, Aquib Talib, and Marcus Peters, and they brought back veterans in Todd Gurley and Aaron Donald. The obvious goal of making so many changes was to compete in the NFC, but they could be competing for more than that if they keep up their winning ways.
According to the latest NFL betting odds, the Rams are 8-5 favorites to win the Super Bowl.
That would mean a trip to Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta for former TCU Horned Frogs Joseph Noteboom and Travin Howard, who are currently on the Rams roster.
So far this season, the Rams have rolled past the Oakland Raiders and Arizona Cardinals, won the battle of LA against the Chargers, took care of business against the Minnesota Vikings, and they bested likely their biggest competition in the NFC West, the Seattle Seahawks.
Most recently, they utilized a strong rushing game by Gurley to get past the Denver Broncos, but some tests still lie ahead on their schedule.
A matchup with another red-hot NFC team, the New Orleans Saints, comes in week nine, immediately followed by a rematch with Seattle and a week 11 headliner on Monday Night Football against an AFC force in the Patrick Mahomes-led Kansas City Chiefs.
The Rams’ early season success also seems to be energizing the city of Los Angeles according to SoCal Sports Chronicle.
“They haven’t won anything yet, but they’re taking off quickly with the NFC West division crown. And granted, having already won the battle for the soul of the city, they are entertaining and have energized a town that has turned its attention to the Rams.”
While no one has placed expectations on the Rams to go undefeated, especially with the early division lead they have, USA Today has already listed a number of reasons they won’t go without a blemish on their record.
But Los Angeles fans have plenty of reason to be excited. With a quarterback in Jared Goff, who in year three is already third in total quarterback rating just under Mahomes and Drew Brees, the variety of weapons he has on offense, and a much-improved defense from last year’s squad, it’s hard to not see them best their efforts last season.
