Will Kansas State go with Jesse Ertz or Alex Delton? | News OK

Kansas State lost quarterback Jesse Ertz in the second half against Texas on Saturday. But Kansas State did not lose an offensive beat. Backup Alex Delton, a redshirt sophomore from Hays, Kansas, came on and sparked the Wildcats, rushing for 79 yards on 12 carries with two touchdowns. This week, K-State hosts sixth-ranked TCU, and Wildcat coach Bill Snyder says Ertz remains the starter. But only if he’s healthy. Ertz suffered a sprained knee against the Longhorns, and though he later returned for the Cats’ final drive of regulation, Delton quarterbacked the two overtimes, which ended in a 40-34 Texas victory.“Playing both of them is a good thing,” Snyder said. “I’m pleased Alex had a chance to get in the ballgame. At the same time, we’re not really a two-quarterback system. It depends on whether Jesse is totally able to go or not. We want to make sure that he is healthy. I’m pleased with Alex’s performance. I thought he did quite well. Managed the game well, which is significant for me.”
