In between bites, he spoke about the improvement of one of his closest friends on the Patriots – Marcus Cannon. At right tackle, the 6-5, 335-pound Cannon has helped block for Tom Brady and the rest of the Patriots’ offense – and Cannon’s growth this season has been a big reason why the offensive line has flourished. Cannon – who grew up in Quanah, attended Odessa High School and played at Texas Christian University – will get a chance to help the Patriots capture a Super Bowl in his home state. Shaq Mason, who starts at right guard, is in his second season in the NFL and is 23 years old. Like any player who’s stuck around in the league and made a career out of playing football, Cannon has improved significantly from his rookie year. […] there’s familiar foe Dwight Freeney – whom the Patriots used to know quite well when he played for the Colts. The offensive line helped LeGarrette Blount rush for a league-high 18 touchdowns during the regular season, and it’s given Brady tremendous protection so far in these playoffs.
