FORT WORTH, Texas — The TCU women’s basketball team trimmed Oklahoma State’s lead twice, but OSU answered every run in an 82-67 win at Schollmaier Arena on Wednesday night.TCU (8-6, 0-3) shot a season-low 34 percent and also allowed Oklahoma State (12-2, 2-1) to shoot 54 percent. The Cowgirls outrebounded TCU, 50-22, and had more offensive rebounds (14) than the Frogs had defensive rebounds (13).AJ Alix led TCU with 24 points, her second straight game over 20 points. She connected on six 3-pointers and played all 40 minutes. Jada Butts and Amy Okonkwo joined her in double figures with 13 and 11 points, respectively. Kaylee Jensen led OSU with 25 points and 15 rebounds.Oklahoma State pulled away in the first quarter, but in both the second and third quarters TCU cut the lead down to one possession. On each occasion, OSU used a 9-0 run to pull back ahead by double digits and stop any TCU chance at a comeback.Defining Moments The Frogs first got within one, 30-29, with 1:41 left in the second quarter. However, the Cowgirls rattled off nine straight in 55 seconds to take a 41-31 lead into the halftime break.TCU had held OSU to 2-of-11 shooting and eight points in the first eight minutes of the second quarter. However, in the final two minutes they scored 12 points and made 4-of-5 shots.TCU then got within two, 54-52, with 1:47 left in the third quarter. This time OSU’s 9-0 run spanned into the fourth quarter as the Cowgirls went up 63-52. Oklahoma State went on to shoot 8-of-12 for 24 fourth-quarter points to run away with the win.Stat of the Game 9 — For the second straight game, TCU took care of the ball as it tied a season-low with nine turnovers. Defensively, TCU forced Oklahoma State into 20 turnovers and scored 28 points off of them.Team Notes – TCU tied a season-low with nine turnovers. The Frogs also had nine turnovers in its season opener against Incarnate Word. – TCU shot a season-low 33.8 percent (22-of-65) overall and 31.3 percent (10-of-32) from long range. – Oklahoma State’s 54.4 percent (31-of-57) shooting overall was the highest percentage allowed by TCU this season. – The Frogs made 10 3-pointers for the second straight game, the first time this season they’ve done so in back-to-back games. TCU has made at least six 3-pointers in every game. – TCU used the starting lineup for the second straight game (AJ Alix, Jada Butts, Kianna Ray, Amy Okonkwo, Adeola Akomolafe).
