DeSoto QB Robinson proves to be too much for Steele – San Antonio Express-News

ARLINGTON – DeSoto’s TCU-bound senior quarterback Shawn Robinson may have been the focal point of Steele’s defense on Saturday. Robinson combined for 419 total yards and three touchdowns in the Eagles’ 38-29 victory in the Class 6A, Division II state championship at AT&T Stadium. Robinson, who was named the game’s offensive MVP, rushed 18 times for 197 yards and one touchdown. “He’s a great dual-threat quarterback,” Steele senior defensive lineman said Josh Croslen said of Robinson. Robinson came up with huge completions on third down (16 yards to Laviska Shenault) and fourth down (14 yards) as part of a 14-play, 92-yard drive that put DeSoto in the lead 7-0 on their first possession. After Steele pulled to within 21-10 on Xavier Martin’s 15-yard TD run at the 2:18 mark of the second quarter, Robinson engineered a drive that went 11 plays and 85 yards and was capped by his 28-yard completion to KD Nixon in the back of the end zone on the final play of the first half.
