Richmond Times-Dispatch: Redskins WR Doctson still struggling due to preseason injury

ASHBURN — At the beginning of training camp, Washington Redskins general manager Scot McCloughan infamously injured his hand in frustration when he learned that wide receiver Josh Doctson might be out for two months.

It’s a good thing for McCloughan’s health that he didn’t find out the true extent of the injury.

Doctson’s injured Achilles tendon has been one of the most vexing issues this season for the Redskins, and coach Jay Gruden said Monday the team was going to rest him at least through the bye week before attempting a return.

“I’m frustrated for him. I feel bad for him. He wants to play in the worst way,” Gruden said. “This is the most unique injury that people have seen, you know? We can’t put a finger on why he’s having pain, but he’s having pain. And he wants to play.”
