GoFrogs: Williams Added to Biletnikoff Award Watch List

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation has announced the addition of TCU’s Taj Williams to the watch list for the 2016 Biletnikoff Award, presented to the nation’s top receiver regardless of position.

Williams’ 25 receptions rank second on TCU. The junior from Tallahassee, Fla., is averaging a team-best 20.2 yards per reception while tying Jaelan Austin for the Horned Frogs’ lead with four touchdown catches.

Williams’ 506 yards receiving, which ranks 25th nationally, has him on pace for just the fourth 1,000-yard season in TCU history. His career-high 210 yards receiving, on five receptions with two touchdowns (64 and 74 yards), against Oklahoma were the fourth-best in a game in TCU history. It was also the Horned Frogs’ highest receiving yards total since Josh Doctson’s school-record 267 yards at Texas Tech last season.

In his TCU debut, the season opener against South Dakota State, Williams had 11 receptions for 158 yards, including a 46-yard touchdown. The 11 catches were the most by a Horned Frog since Doctson had 12 grabs for 184 yards versus West Virginia last year.

Williams, who played the previous two seasons at Iowa Western Community College, was rated the nation’s No. 1 junior college wide receiver and No. 6 overall JUCO player in 2015.

Doctson was a 2015 Biletnikoff Award finalist.
