GoFrogs: 3 Horned Frogs Card Below-Par Rounds

THE WOODLANDS, TexasBrooke Graebe carded a 68 and was one of three Horned Frogs to shoot under par in Monday’s final round of the Jim West Challenge.

Annika Clark added a 69 and Emmy Martin posted a 70 as the Horned Frogs shot a 2-under 286 on the day en route to finishing 10th.

“With three players taking it deep today, we are getting better and better,” TCU women’s golf coach Angie Ravaioli-Larkin said. “We were super close to having a big breakthrough as a team.

“Individually, we had some players break some barriers in this round. It’s time to do it as a team for the entire tournament. We have the talent and work ethic. We just have to be mentally prepared.”

Graebe’s 68 was one stroke behind her career-best 67 at last year’s Notre Dame Clover Cup. She totaled seven birdies in recording the fifth sub-70 round of her career. The sophomore from Yorba Linda, Calif., tied for 15th as she posted the 10th top-20 finish in her 13 collegiate tournaments.

Clark equaled a career-low round with her 69. She recorded three consecutive birdies and five in a six-hole stretch. The Highlands, Texas, native finished at 1-over 217 for the second best 54-hole score of her career.

Martin totaled five birdies in finishing at 1-under 215, the second-best score of her career and behind only a 212 at the 2014 Alamo Invitational.

Alex Sborov added three birdies, all coming in a five-hole span on the back nine.

Florida State won the team title with a 24-under 840 for a seven-stroke victory over Kent State. The Seminoles’ Matilda Castren took medalist honors with a 13-under 203. She was one shot ahead of Kent State’s Pimnipa Panthong, who carded a course and tournament record 63.

TCU returns to action next Monday, Oct. 17, at the Greenville Regional Preview in Greenville, N.C.
