DMN: TCU’s Gary Patterson offers ‘as close to an apology as you’ll ever get’ on officials, Baker Mayfield

Gary Patterson didn’t hold back Saturday after TCU lost to Oklahoma, lambasting the officiating crew for a controversial intentional grounding call late in the game and Baker Mayfield for comments the Sooners’ quarterback made in an ESPN article during the summer.

But that changed Tuesday during his weekly press conference, when Patterson spoke unprompted by media members about the comments he made post-game.

“One of the things that makes me good at what I do is that I’m passionate about how I do things — how I coach and how I play,” Patterson said. “One of the things I’ll have to say about when it came to the officials, Baker, any of them, the bottom line to it is you have to be bigger than all of it.”
