FORT WORTH – Chelso Barrett led TCU for a second straight day as the Frogs carded a 14-over 294 in their second round of the Nike Golf Collegiate Invitational at the Colonial Country Club on Monday.

Barrett, a day after shooting a 68, posted an even-par 70 on Monday, but climbed the individual leaderboard into a tie for sixth place at 2-under-par. The senior sits four shots off the lead, held by Oregon’s Wyndham Clark and Stanford’s Maverick McNealy, the world’s top-ranked amateur.

TCU’s 294 kept the Frogs in 13th place, exactly where it stood after posting an opening-round 290 on Sunday. Vanderbilt has the team lead at 9-under-par, but just sits one shot ahead of Florida.

Round of the Day
Barrett had a very steady round, posting two birdies and two bogeys to finish with an even-par 70. The Frogs started their round on No. 10, and Barrett was the only TCU golfer to par the tough hole.

He then birdied No. 11, and stayed at 3-under for the tournament until a bogey on No. 18. Barrett got that shot back with a birdie at No. 2, but a bogey on No. 5 brought him back to 2-under for the tournament.

Other Notables
– Barrett has now fired six par or better rounds in his eight rounds this season.

– Jason Fitzgerald, playing in his first tournament of the season, carded TCU’s second-best round of the day with a career-low 72. The Wichita Falls, Texas, native rebounded after an opening-round 82.

– TCU is hosting the Nike Golf Collegiate Invitational for the second time. The Frogs hosted the inaugural event in 2014 at Colonial Country Club, while the second annual event was played at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in Portland, Ore., in 2015.

– The 2016 Nike Golf Collegiate Invitational field features seven of the nation’s top 10 teams and three of the world’s top five amateurs.
