End Zone Score: Ryan Willis will start at quarterback for the Kansas Jayhawks this Saturday
When the Kansas Jayhawks take the field this Saturday against the TCU Hornfrogs, they will do so with a new starting quarterback. Kansas coach David Beaty announced Monday that sophomore Ryan Willis will be the team’s new starter. Junior Montell Cozart started the first four games for the Jayhawks.
Ryan Willis came into the season as the presumed starter, but a wrist injury caused him to get behind in fall camp, and Cozart ended up winning the job. David Beaty and the rest of the coaching staff are now convinced that Willis is ready to resume the starter role that he had the second half of last season.
“He’s shown some real progress for us from fall camp, in terms of how he’s studying and starting to understand. I think his efficiency has been a little better for us than even Montell has produced for us,” said Beaty.
