FWST: Wide-open Big 12 race could include up to eight challengers

As we prepare for the first full weekend of conference games involving Big 12 football teams, we offer a short list of activities that offer a higher success rate than identifying this year’s eventual league champion:
▪ Nailing Jell-O to a wall.
▪ Creating spray-paint art in 40 mph wind gusts.
▪ Posing for a selfie with Sasquatch.
The list could stretch indefinitely but the point is clear: No one projects as a slam-dunk league favorite based on September results that have thinned the list of undefeated teams to No. 13 Baylor (4-0) and unranked West Virginia (3-0). Not even No. 21 TCU (3-1) and Oklahoma (1-2), the top two vote-getters in July’s preseason media poll that will meet at 4 p.m. Saturday in Fort Worth (KDFW/Ch. 4).
