FORT WORTH – Allison Ganter came up big in the second overtime for the Frogs as her fifth goal of the season came with just 1:37 remaining in the second overtime to propel TCU to a 1-0 win over SMU.

The Rundown
TCU and SMU traded shots throughout the night, but it was TCU that finally found the back of the net with time running down in the match.

The Horned Frogs used a foul on SMU to get the attack started with just two minutes to go. The Frogs earned a corner kick in which they generated two shots.

It wasn’t until SMU goalkeeper Catie Brown attempted to clear the zone that TCU capitalized. Cachet Lue intercepted the clearing feed and shot a through-ball through the Mustang defense. She found Allison Ganter sprinting into the 18-yard box. At the same time, the keeper was coming out to play the ball, Ganter caught up to the pass and shot it past Brown for the 1-0 win.

Courtney Hofer started in goal but faced just four shots, none of which were on goal. Katie Lund was busy in the second half, making five saves to send the game into overtime. She made the only stop she needed to early in the second overtime.

When all was said and done, TCU held a 19-17 shot advantage. Both team registered six shots on goal in a match that saw 33 combined fouls and 13 combined corner kicks.

Quotes of the Game
Head Coach Eric Bell

On the match:
“I didn’t think the match was chippy, I just thought both teams were competing very hard. It’s a good sign for us to play Oklahoma Friday and travel back late Friday night to come back and put together a quality performance against a good SMU club.”

On his group: “I’m very proud of our group today. I thought we fought for 108 minutes. We never stopped believing and we were able to find a way to score a goal.”

On the game-winning goal:
“You try to make substitutions that impact the game. Allison Ganter comes through again for us and scores a big goal. She’s starting to have a knack for that. I was actually yelling at Cachet not to pass the ball to where she did, but it gets through and fortunately we were able to get to it.”
