DMN: SMU follows same sad script in 33-3 loss to TCU

UNIVERSITY PARK — SMU stormed down the field on the opening possession, but once the Mustangs got inside TCU’s 20, they stalled with two penalties, settling for a field goal.

That was pretty much how it went all night for SMU.

The Mustangs continued to show the ability to hang with Big 12 teams, but their inability to score touchdowns has become a major sticking point.

After going into halftime with a 6-3 lead, the Frogs (3-1) scored on the first play of the second half then methodically wore down their crosstown rival, 33-3, on Friday night at Ford Stadium.

It was TCU’s ninth victory over SMU (2-2) in the last 10 games of the “Battle for the Iron Skillet,” including five consecutive.
