FORT WORTH — TCU coach Gary Patterson will not make the same mistake twice.
In preparing for SMU last year, Patterson went overboard making sure his Horned Frogs were ready for mobile quarterback Matt Davis. But Davis will not play in Friday’s Battle for the Iron Skillet, and his replacement, Ben Hicks, is more of a pocket passer.
On a short week, Patterson wants to make sure the Frogs have fresh legs.
