GoFrogs: Mazzoli Leads At The Olympic Club

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – TCU sophomore Stefano Mazzoli is the individual leader, and the Horned Frogs sit in seventh, after two rounds of the USF Olympic Invitational at the historic Olympic Club.
Mazzoli sits at 3-under-par and has a one shot lead over four other golfers after a 5-under 66 in his second round. Meanwhile, the Frogs as a team also improved in the second round, shaving seven strokes off their first round score. At 15-over-par, TCU sits in seventh place, just two shots back of fourth place and eight shots back of second place.
Round of the Day
Mazzoli posted a career-low 5-under 66 in his second round, charging to the top of the leaderboard. The Italian started his round on the par-4 second with a bogey, but from there went bogey-free and recorded six birdies.
Mazzoli’s was tied for 21st after his first-round 73, but his 66 was tied for the lowest round of the day and jumped him into the lead.
Other Notables
– TCU is 15 shots back of the 36-hole leader, BYU, who is at even-par after two rounds. The Frogs are tied with Fresno State for seventh and five shots ahead of two ninth place teams.
– Senior Chelso Barrett sits in a tie for 20th place at 3-over-par. He could finish in the top-20 in a third straight tournament after finishing eighth at Pebble Beach last week and 13th at the NCAA Championships last season.
