Today’s Knuckleball: Marlins RHP Andrew Cashner not a fan of no beard policy

You may have noticed lately that Miami Marlins right-hander Andrew Cashner has not been rocking his beard. Many know that the New York Yankees are notorious sticklers about facial hair ever since the George Steinbrenner Era, but less known is the fact that the Marlins do not allow their players to have any growth, either.

When Cashner hits free agency this winter, this will be a major point of contention. On Friday, he told ESPN that he would consider re-signing with Miami if “the organization gets rid of its no-beard policy.” Cashner himself stated it was a “big deal” in free agency if the team he wants to sign with allows him to grow back his beard.
