FORT WORTH — TCU lost a big-time running back with the departure of Aaron Green, who rushed for 1,272 yards in 2015.
The Frogs thought they had a suitable replacement in junior Kyle Hicks, who ran for just 262 yards a season ago.
He justified the Frogs’ faith in him quickly against South Dakota with a 15-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.
Hicks was difficult to stop in the first half, when he had 43 yards on 10 carries.
The Frogs still figure to use a committee of running backs, but it became clear that Hicks is going to be the featured player out of the backfield.
