GoFrogs: Robinson Ready To Return To The Hardwood

FORT WORTH, Texas – After transferring from Texas A&M last season, Alex Robinson is eager to return to the court this year.

The Fort Worth native, who grew up only a few blocks from the campus of TCU, saw action in 32 games during his rookie campaign in College Station, averaging 18.8 minutes per contest. He reached double-figures in points in eight contests, while shooting 41.9 percent from the floor and 36.1 percent from beyond 3-point range during the 2014-15 campaign for Texas A&M.

Prior to playing for the Aggies, Robinson was rated a four-star prospect by ESPN, Rivals.com and Scout.com, which also listed him as the 10th best point guard and the 47th overall prospect nationally in the class of 2014. Additionally, ESPN regarded him as the eighth-best prospect in the state of Texas and the 13th highest-ranked point guard recruit in the country.

Following his freshman campaign though, Robinson elected to sit out and relocate to a familiar place in TCU. He is eager to return to the hardwood.

“It means the world to me to be able to play the game I love again,” said Robinson. “I cannot wait to be able to compete throughout the season with my teammates, my brothers.”

When he first steps on the court this season, Robinson will also be carrying on a family legacy. His mother, Darla, competed for the women’s basketball team from 1982 through 1984. She wore No. 25 for the Purple and White, a number that her son will now don in honor of his upbringing.

“Putting on a TCU jersey will be emotional for me,” said Robinson. “I’m wearing the same jersey and number as my mom. She’s sacrificed so much for me, so I will be giving my all to show my appreciation for her. She deserves it.”
