Wichita Falls Times-Record-News: Former TCU player to serve prison time

A Wichita Falls man will serve time behind bars after violating the terms of his community supervision.

Jurell Ray Thompson, 26, pleaded true to the alleged violations and was sentenced to four years in prison by Judge Bernard Fudge in the 78th District Court Friday.

Thompson was initially given deferred adjudication on a charge of possession of a controlled substance from a 2010 traffic stop during which cocaine was found in the vehicle he was driving.

Court documents say Thompson was arrested on June 26 in Fort Worth for unlawful possession of a firearm. He also tested positive for tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) back in October and stopped reporting to his supervision officer from November 2015 through May 2016, among other violations.

Thompson was a standout football player at Rider High School and went on to play two seasons at Texas Christian University.
