Saturday Blitz: TCU blames Johnny Manziel for Kenny Hill’s troubles at Texas A&M

TCU Horned Frogs quarterback Kenny Hill looks to get his career back on track after transferring from Texas A&M where he learned poor habits from Johnny Manziel.

Kenny Hill had large shoes to fill when he succeeded Johnny Manziel as the starting quarterback for the Texas A&M Aggies in 2014. Replacing the first freshman to win the Heisman Trophy and a player with a celebrity status was a tough place for Hill to be in but he began his tenure as the Aggies starter with a bang, throwing for 511 yards and three touchdowns in a blowout win against South Carolina.

It looked like Hill could follow Manziel’s lead and contend for the Heisman Trophy. However, that notion quickly disappeared when Hill threw six interceptions in a three-game losing streak that saw him lose his starting job. Then, he was suspended, again, by head coach Kevin Sumlin for disciplinary reasons and decided to transfer to TCU.

Hill is eligible to play this year and is the presumptive starting quarterback to replaceTrevone Boykin and head coach Gary Patterson believes the fresh start will do him good, according to Sports On Earth.
