Sioux Falls Argus Leader: Jacks hit the field at new stadium

The South Dakota State football players know that, soon enough, some important decisions will be made.

There will be new starters at cornerback, on the offensive line, and at least one linebacker spot. And, of course, the battle for the starting quarterback position will take on a life of its own soon enough. All of that will be determined based on how the players perform over the next 2-3 weeks leading up to the season opener against Big 12 power TCU.

But on day one at least, those pressing concerns didn’t seem to be on the minds of any of the South Dakota State football players, or even the coaches. A day after they’d reported for camp and settled in, the Jackrabbit players were on the field Thursday at the spectacular new Dana J Dykhouse Stadium, kicking off practice in what was a fairly festive atmosphere on a perfect summer day.

How excited were the players to get to work in their new digs? Most of the players were on the field and ready to go a half-hour before practice was scheduled to begin.
