Austin American-Statesman: Finding a starting quarterback key for TCU’s title run

DALLAS — TCU’s offense had been nearly unstoppable the past two seasons.
The Horned Frogs even stayed relatively strong when All-American receiver Josh Doctson broke a bone in his wrist early last November and quarterback Trevone Boykin sprained an ankle the next week.
Then TCU pulled off a football version of a miracle against Oregon in the Alamo Bowl, with a walk-on quarterback leading the Frogs back from a 31-point deficit to claim a 47-41 victory over the Ducks in three overtimes.
But can TCU sustain success now that those top skill guys are transitioning to the NFL?
Coach Gary Patterson thinks so. But then again, he admits to liking the unknown.
