Longview News-Journal: Former Lobo Howard added to Butkus Award watch list

Former Longview Lobo standout Travin Howard was one of two East Texas football players named to the 2016 Butkus Award watch list on Tuesday.
The Butkus Award is presented annually to college football’s top linebacker. Howard, who will be a junior at TCU, has already been named to the Nagurski and Bednarik Award watch lists earlier this week. Both of those awards are given to the nation’s top defensive player.
Also named to the Butkus watch list on Tuesday was former John Tyler standout Tyus Bowser, who will be a senior at the University of Houston.
Howard saw action in 13 games for the Horned Frogs as a freshman in 2014, but did not record a tackle.
