Longview News-Journal: Former Lobo Howard named to Nagurski watch list

Former Longview Lobo standout Travin Howard picked up another preseason honor on Friday when he was named to the 2016 Bronko Nagurski Trophy “watch list.”
The award, presented by the Football Writers Association of America, has honored the national defensive Player of the Year since 1993 and is named for legendary two-way player Bronislaw “Bronco” Nagurski from the University of Minnesota.
Nagurski is a charter member of both the College Football and Pro Football Halls of Fame.
Earlier in the week, Howard — who will be a junior at TCU — was named to the Chuck Bednarik Award watch list. That award has been presented to the college defensive Player of the Year since 1955.
