Today’s Pigskin: Kolby Listenbee can help Bills profoundly in 2016
By Danny Shimon
As head coach Rex Ryan and the Buffalo Bills head into the start of training camp later this month, one area of concern is the wide receiver corps.
Buffalo lost possession receiver Chris Hogan to the New England Patriots during the offseason. The Bills’ their top receiver, Sammy Watkins, is recovering from surgery on his foot to repair a broken bone. He’s the only member of the group to reach 1,000 yards last season. While Watkins is expected to need all of training camp and the preseason to recover, he expects to be ready for the season opener. The team thinks he’ll be ready, too.
Without Watkins the Bills do not have another consistent playmaking receiver. Watkins led the team with 1,047 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. The next closest receiver was Robert Woods with 552 yards and three scores. Suffice to say, Sammy Watkins is the Buffalo passing game. Without him the Bills’ offense becomes one-dimensional, relying solely on the rushing attack.
