Former TCU safety Derrick Kindred went through a lot to make his NFL dream a reality.

As The Dallas Morning News’ Barry Horn covers in this expansive profile on Kindred, the former Horned Frog played his entire senior season with a fractured left clavicle and then needed to prove himself with his 40 time during the draft process.

But Kindred was selected by the Cleveland Browns in the fourth round of the draft. And now with his first NFL paycheck in hand, he bought his mother a special gift to thank her for all her support over the years.

It might be a little late for Mother’s Day, but somehow we don’t think that’ll be an issue for Kindred’s mom.
