NWI: Former Valpo star Suiter taking chance with Pirates affiliate head on

At Valparaiso High School, Jerrick Suiter was a star. Whatever the sport, he was usually the most talented athlete, something that didn’t come by accident.

Whether it was on the gridiron, hardwood or diamond, he always went full throttle, a workman-like style of play that Suiter maintains to this day with the Class High-A Bradenton Marauders of the Florida State League.

“As far as approach goes, my philosophy is to play 100 percent all the time,” he said. “You’re never going to see me not run out the ball, even if I hit it right back to the pitcher. I have that Pete Rose mentality; I go hard all the time.”

“The goal is to get one percent better every day. My dad always said there’s always someone out there that’s better than you, so I just keep working.”
