FWST: TCU basketball’s Dixon has eye on ‘under-recruited’ parts of Texas

New TCU coach Jamie Dixon’s first two recruits are from Tennessee and Indiana, but Texas will also get much of his focus, he said Wednesday in a conference call with reporters.

“The state is so big, and there are so many areas that I think are under-recruited,” he said, speaking during a Big 12 coaches call for media. “I’m amazed at the guys that end up at different places, that maybe were not the five-star guys, that are from Texas that go to places and become great players. There’s a lot of those guys out there. You don’t want those guys to slip through the cracks.”

Since being hired in March, Dixon has signed guards Jaylen Fisher of Arlington, Tenn., and Desmond Bane of Richmond, Ind.

Last week, TCU gained a commitment from Houston guard Kendric Davis for the 2018 class.
