Chicago Tribune: Cougars’ Alex Young pitching like he’s ready for change of address

Catching a guy like Alex Young makes life really easy for Cougars catcher Francis Christy.

Christy caught Young for the fifth straight time Tuesday, and Young threw all three of his pitches for strikes in a snappy 2-0 win over Burlington. All the while, Young only shook Christy off a handful of times over seven innings, making for a stress-free day.

“It’s awesome,” Christy said. “All I have to do back there is sit down and catch it. I love catching him. He and I have been on the same page ever since I got here (on June 3). He’s really impressed me so far in the few games that I’ve caught him.”

Young was so confident in his changeup that he often started hitters off with the pitch. When the 6-foot-2 left-hander decided to go with his fastball, it seemed faster than its typical 86-90 mph because he kept Bees hitters guessing.
