Chicago Tribune: Joe Maddon believes history is on Jake Arrieta’s side

MIAMI — Nasal congestion and Texas Christian’s elimination by Coastal Carolina gave Jake Arrieta a headache Sunday.
Meanwhile, Cubs manager Joe Maddon wasn’t sure if his ace would instantly resolve the high-pitch count issues that have curtailed many of his recent starts.
Arrieta will face the Reds on Monday night where he pitched his last no-hitter, April 21 at Great American Ball Park.
But Maddon’s mind was on a little more distant history.
