WFAA: TCU’s Tuesday win marked by two storybook storylines

OMAHA, Neb. — TCU’s story in the NCAA Tournament is far from finished — either Coastal Carolina or Texas Tech will have to beat the Horned Frogs twice in two days on Friday and Saturday to keep them out of the school’s first College World Series Finals.

But with the storybook day the team had on Tuesday, the Frogs are going into two off days that will serve as a temporary happily ever after.

It started with a visit in Omaha from the team’s inspiration, 7-year-old Micah Ahern.

There have been dozens of stories about the special relationship the program shares with the boy, who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in 2010 and was introduced to the team in 2013. Micah’s fight against cancer, and his mantra, “never, ever give up” (or #NEGU on social media) has been a calming influence on the players, who see Micah as equal parts a superhero and a teammate.
