WFAA: TCU’s 2016 College World Series team has a foundation of youngsters

OMAHA, Neb. — With TCU sitting two wins away from the College World Series Finals, it’s easy to get lost in the folk-hero-who-can-mash story of true freshman designated hitter Luken Baker.
I certainly did after the Horned Frogs’ win Sunday afternoon, as did the rest of the journalists in the postgame press conference, where Baker and his go-ahead home run were the topic of the lion’s share of the questions.
However, to do so is to ignore the fact that Baker isn’t alone as a young player on this year’s team.
In fact, depending on how many underclassmen out of the five non-senior Horned Frogs who were drafted in the 13th round and later in the MLB draft, TCU promises to return almost every key contributor this season other than centerfielder Dane Steinhagen and reliever Preston Guillory.
