The Battalion: Season over: Aggies fall short of Omaha with painful 4-1 loss to TCU

A passed ball, a bases-loaded walk, a sacrifice fly and a wild pitch—that’s how TCU scored its four runs Sunday night, all of which were unearned.

The fact that the Horned Frogs were hitless with runners in scoring position and only 1-for-18 with runners on base didn’t matter, as a masterful pitching performance by Brian Howard and a three-run seventh inning catapulted them past host Texas A&M, 4-1, in the third game of the College Station Super Regional.

And, just like that, the Aggies saw their season end at the hands of TCU, while the Horned Frogs advance to the College World Series next weekend in Omaha, Nebraska.

“It’s never about the best team, it’s about the team that plays the best,” TCU head coach Jim Schlossnagle said after the game. “We knew going in that this was a situation where we would have to play better baseball.”
