Bryan-College Station Eagle: Signs pointed toward an A&M victory but lack of execution killed the season

I thought A&M would beat TCU. While it was an advantage playing at home, I liked the Aggies because I figured they would score 4-5 runs which would be enough with a rested pitching staff led by Andrew Vinson and Mark Ecker.

I was wrong on both counts – Vinson couldn’t get a 1-0 lead to Ecker and A&M’s bats were MIA. And of those two, A&M struggling at the plate wasn’t that surprising.

Supposedly, the strength of A&M’s lineup was anyone in the lineup could come up big. But in the series against TCU only two guys had more than three hits and one of them, Joel Davis, couldn’t play in Game 3. Even Boomer White, the Southeastern Conference player of the year, was 0 for 9 in the last two games.
