Bryan-College Station Eagle: Aggies extend season with 7-1 win over TCU in Super Regional Game 2

By RICHARD CROOME

Texas A&M’s Michael Barash finished his portion of the Game 1 press conference by assuring everyone that the Aggies, who had just lost 8-2 in the opening game of their Super Regional against TCU, were okay. They would come out in Game 2 and as the visitors score first and go from there.

J.B. Moss didn’t make Barash wait long to be proven a prophet, hitting the second pitch of the game for a home run. A&M went on to score two more runs in the first inning on the way to a 7-1 victory to force a deciding game at 8 p.m. Sunday in the College Station Super Regional.

“Maybe we had a few distractions the first day, I think with a lot of guys drafted on the team, and I don’t think it helps that they have that during this time of the year,” Moss said of the eight Aggies selected in the MLB draft before the start of Friday’s game. “Today it was business-like, win or go home and for some reason our team is very good in that spot.”

The No. 1 Aggies (49-15) will start either Turner Larkins (3-0, 2.82 ERA) or Andrew Vinson (4-2, 2.40) in Game 3 and TCU (46-16) will go with Brian Howard (8-2, 3.56).
