GoFrogs: Baker Tabbed 2nd-Team All-American
FORT WORTH – TCU freshman Luken Baker has been tabbed a second-team All-American by Baseball America. Baker is the 18th All-American selection under the guidance of head coach Jim Schlossnagle.
Baker put together a stellar freshman season both at the plate and on the mound. Prior to an injury that has sidelined him from the mound, Baker was leading the Big 12 with a 1.70 ERA in 10 starts. At the plate, Baker paces the Big 12 with a .382 batting average. His 84 hits are tops in the league, while his 54 RBIs are tied for first in the Big 12. Addtionally, he has contributed 14 doubles and eight home runs.
The honors have been plenty for Baker this season as he was tabbed the Big 12 Freshman of the Year in addition to earning first-team all-conference accolades both as a designated hitter and a utility player. He was also a member of the Big 12 All-Freshman squad. The MOP of the Big 12 Championships, Baker also earned a spot on the NCAA Fort Worth All-Regional team this past weekend.
