GoFrogs: TCU Opens Regional Friday Versus ORU

FORT WORTH – The NCAA Baseball Regional brackets were announced Monday on ESPNU. The TCU Horned Frogs, hosting their sixth regional in program history, are back in the regionals for the 12th time in the last 13 years. They will face the region’s four-seed, Oral Roberts on Friday night at 6:30 at Lupton Stadium.

The other game in the Fort Worth Regional will see No. 3 Gonzaga versus No. 2 Arizona State Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. The tournament is scheduled to begin on Friday, June 3 and run through Monday.

This is the Frogs’ 14th overall trip to the regionals. The previous 13 trips came in 1956, 1994, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2015. TCU is one of just 12 teams nationally to play in 12 of the last 13 regionals. The Horned Frogs are one of just seven schools to serve as a host for the third consecutive season.

The winner of the Fort Worth Regional will play the winner of the College Station (Texas A&M) Regional in the Super Regionals. The four teams in that region include, the host school, Minnesota, Wake Forest and Binghamton. Texas A&M is the tournament’s No. 4 National Seed.

The Big 12 earned three bids to the tournament. Oklahoma State was also selected as a two-seed in the Clemson Regional. Texas Tech, one of two Big 12 hosts, was tabbed the No. 5 National Seed.
