Golfweek: Arkansas, TCU share first-round lead at NCAA Championship

EUGENE, Ore. – The early-day leaders held firm at the NCAA Championship, as Arkansas and TCU – both members of Friday’s morning wave – each posted 2 over to hold a share of the 18-hole lead.
For the Razorbacks, it was a day of limited mistakes, as the team posted zero scores above bogey for the round. It was the work of two seniors that paced the team. Taylor Moore, who leads the team in scoring average by nearly a stroke at 71.3, posted an opening round 70 to sit T-16. The other big senior scorer, though, wasn’t Nicolas Echavarria (second on the team in scoring average at 72.2). Rather, it was Kolton Crawford, who posted four birdies in a 2-under 68 that put him a tie for fourth.
TCU, on the other hand, posted three double bogeys on the day but made enough red numbers to get past it. The Horned Frogs boast two players in the top 10, as Chelso Barrett (T-4, 2 under) and Paul Barjon (T-7, 1 under) both had sparkling opening rounds. …
