The Washington Post: Rookie Josh Doctson gets acclimated with Redskins’ veterans and playbook

Josh Doctson felt with he was a leader who said very few words at Texas Christian last year. If that’s the case, his persona will mesh well with Washington Redskins wide receivers DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon. The veterans have led the unit through their actions, Doctson said, since the 22nd overall pick arrived at Redskins Park.

“I just watch them work,” Doctson said. “It’s kind of how I was at TCU. I didn’t have much words for the young guys that came in. They just watched me work. I kind of know how they’re trying to teach me right now.”

Doctson has admired their professionalism and noticed how comfortable Jackson and Garcon are in the team’s scheme. It’ll take some time for the 23-year-old to glide across the practice field with a degree of confidence, but Doctson hopes to be familiar with the playbook over the next few months. Listed at 6 feet 2 and 202 pounds, Doctson has the potential to develop into a legitimate No. 1 wide receiver for the Redskins, with his size and reliable hands. The Mansfield, Texas native finished with 1,326 yards on 78 catches in 10 games as a senior with the Horned Frogs. Doctson had 25 touchdowns in his final two seasons at TCU. …
